Welcome to the rising of the Revel Moon!

Reviews of Revel Moon's Performances

Review of the Ravyne's Haven performance -- By Ravyne (first published on Witchvox, read the full review by clicking here)

"They sounded great -- and I noticed people pausing as they passed the pavilion to enjoy the music!  ...as soon as Irene sang the lyrics "rain down," the sky opened up and the rain just sort of poured down...  ...I glanced out at the parking lot and noticed there were still people standing in the rain listening to the band.  What a testament to how amazing their performance was!"

Review of "...a Glimpse" -- By Bear of Paganet News (read the full review by clicking here)

"Perhaps the greatest praise I can offer Revel Moon is my congratulations on their having joined a growing number of serious artists who have had their fill of major label meat grinders and the re-packaged products they spew out.  RM, clearly responding to a spiritual life force that does not merely suggest, but demand they play and sing form the soul, would wither and die amongst such commercialism...  RM is still discovering itself.  Band members have come and gone, yet with each resettling they have re-emerged stronger and more cohesive as if some internal compass was compelling all of them to move in a particular direction...  I always have a specific weakness for performers whose voices and instruments synchronize with the collective beat of their hearts.  If you listen closely enough, you can hear it too...  I am glad to introduce RM as joining the ranks of true artists and not being just another Cover-Band content to just be musicians, play to the crowd and pick up a check...  This reviewer predicts you'll be hearing a lot more of them in the future."

Review of "Back to the Fair" -- By Bill Wright of Gods of Music (read the full review by clicking here)

"I am always on a quest to find interesting music.  As a result, one of my chief rules is to seek out new artists, with new ideas that revolve around traditional music making.  Because of this, I really tend to shy away from reviewing cover tracks.  "Back to the Fair" by 'Revel Moon' is such a fresh, unique take on a classic song, that I have made an exception to my own rule...  'Revel Moon' has managed to make an interesting arrangement that weaves a traditional rendition of "Scarborough Fair" with some unique modern interpretations in the verses...  The piece opens quietly, with a nice vocal duet, light acoustic guitar and simple percussion.  It quickly transforms itself into a slightly punk-rock feel with some well done counterpoint in the vocal work....  If you are looking for fresh new takes on old material and you want to listen to people who enjoy making music, then be sure to give this 'Revel Moon' track a listen."

Review of "...a Glimpse" - By Murphy (of Murphy's Magic Mess on KZUM Nebraska)  '"I'd like to hear more from them.  Is it folk rock or rocking folk?"

Review of the Emergenza Battle of the Bands performance - By Anna Riso (first published on the Emergenza web page)  '"...the club's stage was lit by numerous highly talented bands... the Celtic inspired Revel Moon who thanks to their excellent vocalists and percussionists surrounded the night with a unique atmosphere."

Review of the Eastern Massachusetts PPD performance - By Bob Donovan (first published in The alternative News)  '"...was a very talented group from Virginia known as Revel Moon. They perform their own blend of folk/rock and are extremely entertaining. Their vocals were perfectly matched and their overall structure was well rounded to perform a wide array of material that was very enjoyable. I look forward to hearing more from this band in the future."

What people are saying

"Wow... I haven't ventured out of the house in a while, but I'm sure glad that I did escape for this one! Wasn't really much of an "escape" per se - I did actually tote along my 3 kids. They've been begging to see Revel Moon Live for a long time. They've got all the songs from the CD memorized, so this was a special treat for them as well. They played all the songs from the CD: L.A. Woman with a Stonehenge Soul, Fire & Water, Sevatividam, Persephone plus a whole lot more. It was pretty cute to see my daughter sing backup in the crowd - she's only 5, you can imagine."

"The Faire was AWESOME; [Revel Moon] in particular were in rare form...rolling musical thunder across the small crowd, crackling with amusement and wild energy.  I loved every bit of it.  Revel Moon is officially on the top 10 list of 'Reasons why I continue to breathe.'"

"...I saw [Revel Moon] last year at the SSC and this year I was one of the CPA members helping to organize the Litha Festival.  You are all amazing and wonderful.  I finally managed to buy your [demo]...and I'm glad I did.  I've been listening to it almost non-stop.  Thanks for all the amazing hard work you put into your music.  I love the lyrics to all your songs and wish I could dance while I'm in the car!"

"Attended the 'After Hours Coffee House' event at Esoterica in Leesburg last night with my wife and daughter.  We love your music.  The band holds a unique and appealing style.  We hope you guys realize your dreams, whatever they may be...Best to each of you and thank you for an enjoyable and enriching evening."

"I saw [Revel Moon] recently and I must say you were all really great.  In particular, Irene has such a commanding presence it really shined the light on your entire group.  You also had a lot of power in your music...  In addition you are all nice, wonderful people in addition to talented artists...  Best wishes to you all."
